To me, art is simply expression. I find that when I think of what art is, what defines art, the more time i spend thinking the more confused I become. The truth is I could look at almost anything and given enough time, I could conclude that what I am looking at is art. So I suppose my only option as of now is to be comfortable with the fact that I am not exactly sure why I consider something to be art. Instead I will post this painting entitled "Large Girl With No Eyes" by an artist I admire, Julian Schnabel.

Although I cannot say I am always crazy about Schnabel's paintings, this one has always stood out to me. As many have said in posts below mine, in order for something to be art it must be deliberate and it must provoke thought. This painting does both those things. The black strip over the girl's eyes caused me to wonder who this person really is. I never thought how eyes truly tell you about a person..
