This image exhibits Gestalt Theories. The human faces are formed through semi-abstract lines and open spaces (which are later "closed" by the mind's eye). Also, the two "sides" of the piece are integrated through the shared/dual use of single lines (ie the border between their faces) and the use of simple black/white color palette.
