Geoff Mino-- Contemporary Artist Andy Warhol

Warhol's art calls the values of art into question, and I love it. Mechanical reproduction, having other people create his works, accepting commissions for wealthy society portraits, etc. Warhol's work flew in the face of the art world, but only because the art world was no longer reflecting reality. Warhol, by embodying the "pop" ideals of multiplicity and dubious authenticity, tapped into the modern condition. His work helped reorient art, jolting it out of its arcane resting place and aligning it with the contemporary experience.
